How to: Clean Your Make up Brushes

Maintaining your make-up brushes is just as important as the quality of product your are putting on your face. Using a brush that has product built up in it changes the integrity of the make-up and can harbor bacteria. Follow the steps below to get your make up brushes as good as new!

Step 1: Begin by brushing out the dry make-up on your brush onto a paper towel. This will help to get rid of loose product and make the next steps easier.

Step 2: Drop about 1/8 Tablespoon of baby shampoo into a cup and fill with lukewarm water. Baby shampoo is a great option because it is made with the most gentle of ingredients that won't harm your brushes.
Step 3: Drop your brush in the soapy water and swirl it around to wash off the make-up.

Step 4: Rinse your brush in running water, making sure to point the brush down to protect the bristles of your brush.

Step 5: Use your hand to reform the bristles into the shape they were when you bought the brush. Lay on a paper towel to dry overnight.

Voila! That's it. Repeat this process every month for natural hair brushes and every quarter for synthetic hair brushes to maintain their best quality. And because my son wanted to be involved in the process. . . "Cheese!"
