Fashion Star Recap

Oh reality TV always keeping us on our toes. : ) Were you surprised that Orly sold three items, Nzimiro sold none, and yet he stayed? I still don't really get why they had to send so many home this week. They're all so talented. I loved Orly's jacket and that's pretty amazing that Nikki made her dress fabric by piecing it together. I didn't understand why Ronnie's dress was bought, but then again I don't understand the hype over Ronnie at all. Maybe he will prove me wrong next week! For your viewing pleasure: the winning looks.

Ponytail Monday

Ponytail Monday was invented way back when in high school. Something about a long and fun weekend and then back to the daily grind on Monday. My sister and I would come out of our rooms and realize we were both wearing ponytails. Then we would pick up our friends on the way to school and they were all wearing ponytails too! Enter ponytail Monday. Here are a few ideas to dress up your plain ponytail.

1. Braid it.
French braiding the front pieces is a great way to spice up a ponytail and keep your bangs out of your face.

2. Wrap it.
Simply leave a small strand of hair out of the ponytail, wrap it around to hide the elastic, and pin or tuck then end of the piece into the elastic. Voila, instant style.

3. Twist it.
There are two ways to achieve this look. You can either twist the hair back, pin it, and then combine into a ponytail, or leave two sections out, pull into a ponytail and then twist and pin. The secret to this style is keeping the untwisted hair sleek and smooth.

4. Accessorize it!
Accessories are a great way to add personality to any hair-do and it takes almost no extra time. Bows, flowers, glitter, headbands, the options are endless.

5. Dip dye it!
LC and team recently shared a how-to for this style on their blog and she pulled it off beautifully. This is a great way to add pizazz to a ponytail and using a washable or semi-permanant product will give you all the attention without the commitment.

What do you think? What ways do you change up your ponytail? Would you try a bright hair color or a dip dye?

Fashion Star

Are you loving this show? I like that it has almost no drama and is all about the clothes. I knew it was going to be my favorite show when it started so I turned it into a game. You can play too! There's only 2 rules:
1. You must guess if the designer will make a sale and which store it will be.
2. No buying any of the items (haha). This was to save my budget, not to be unsupportive to the designers.
Here's a review of the items the buyers chose this week in case you're not playing the game or just want to know for fun!

Who's your favorite designer? I'm so boring, but I don't have one yet. I think Kara could win the whole thing, but I like others too. I'm sad Ross went home. I wish it was Nikki. I'm over her maxi dresses. But I was disappointed with Ross' attitude. Sore loser. Why did he have to say, "Maybe they don't want a Republican?" I'm also disappointed they are getting rid of three at once next week. Why didn't they get rid of three on a week when they weren't as good? Guess we'll never know.

And just for fun. . . the jacket that almost made me break rule #2. Love the braided detail.
